The Caesar Rodney High School football team, by defeating its cross-town rival, Dover High School, this past weekend, earned a berth to the DIAA state tournament as a No. 5 seed. The Riders will face No. 4 Sussex Tech in the first round Nov. 21.

The Caesar Rodney High School soccer team put forward its best effort in the quarterfinals of the state tournament, but still came up short. The young Riders squad was eliminated in a 3-0 loss to No. 1 seed and six-time defending state champion Salesianum.

The Dover High School football team closed its 2009 season with a tough 42-12 loss to cross-town rival Caesar Rodney High School. The one consolation for Head Coach Carlton Brown's team is that they only lose four seniors to graduation, meaning they'll return an experienced team next season.

The Caesar Rodney boys soccer team won its first-round state tournament game in dramatic, comeback fashion, defeating St. Elizabeth, 2-1, Nov. 11. Up next for the No. 9 Riders is No. 1 Salesianum School, who handed CR a 7-1 defeat early in the season.

The 2009 DIAA Cross Country State Championships are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at Killens Pond State Park. The Felton track should provide participants the opportunity to post better-than-usual times as the course runs fast.

The Caesar Rodney High School soccer team has not lost a game since the beginning of October, a streak it looks to continue when it enters the DIAA state tournament. The Riders kick off first-round play with a game against St. Elizabeth High School.

Coming off a surprising turnaround regular season, the Polytech High School girls volleyball team is looking to continue shocking the competition in the DIAA state tournament. The No. 15 Panthers, however, will have their work cut out for them as they face No. 2 Archmere in the first round.
