After a week layoff due to a BYE through the first round of the state tournament, the No. 1 Caesar Rodney High School football team is ready to get this weekend's game underway against No. 5 St. Mark's.

When the Dover High School soccer team lost in the second round of the state tournament against Indian River Nov. 8, the team's season along with the careers of eight starting seniors came to an end.

When the soccer state tournament started nearly two weeks ago, the Caesar Rodney Riders had high hopes and great expectations as the No. 2 seed. But as head coach Darrell Gravatt said, “Soccer’s a frustrating sport sometimes.”

The Dover/Caesar Rodney football game is the highlight of the high school fall sports schedule every year, but this past weekend’s game was just a bit more important than in years past. For the Riders (9-1), a win would have secured them one of the top seeds in the state tournament; while the Senators (6-4) were desperately seeking the victory that would take them into the postseason.

The Delaware cross country state tournament was held Saturday, Nov. 8, at White Clay Creek State Park, Newark. The Caesar Rodney boys fared best for the local teams, placing fourth in the Boys Division I category.

It took 17 games to get there, but the No. 5 ranked Saint Thomas More Preparatory field hockey team finally lost its first game of the season this past week. The Ravens fell to No. 12 Caravel Academy, 3-2, in the first round of the state tournament, thus ending their season.

The Caesar Rodney High School volleyball team was eliminated from the state tournament this past weekend by Wilmington Friends in the first round. With the team's season over, head coach George Fisher knows he is going to face many of the same challenges next year that he faced in the beginning of this one.

The Caesar Rodney football team won its Homecoming game this past weekend by putting up its best offensive performance of the season. This weekend the Riders will take on tough conference foe Sussex Central.
