Coming off a surprising turnaround regular season, the Polytech High School girls volleyball team is looking to continue shocking the competition in the DIAA state tournament. The No. 15 Panthers, however, will have their work cut out for them as they face No. 2 Archmere in the first round.
The Caesar Rodney High School girls volleyball team has made the DIAA state tournament again this year, and is hoping for better fortunes than in year's past on the tail of a successful season with a tougher-than-usual schedule.
The W.T. Chipman Middle School cross-country team's boys and girls both won at a tri-meet Oct. 28 vs. Fred Fifer III and Seaford middle schools at Brecknock Park. Seventh-grade runners Robbie Westhoff and Kailey Perry earned the top spots in the race.
The Lake Forest High School football team won again this past weekend, defeating Woodbridge, 33-0, Oct. 30. With the win, the Spartans have put themselves in position to make the post-season if they can win their final two games.
The Dover and Caesar Rodney high school football teams both suffered in-conference losses to downstate teams this past weekend. The Riders fell to Sussex Tech, 21-14, while the Senators lost to Sussex Central, 47-28.
The final Towne Point Elementary School flag football game of the season was held Oct. 31 at Dover High School. Members from the school’s third and fourth grade teams who play each other for several months enjoyed the chance to play on the turf and a full size field.
