Republican for Sheriff
Each candidate was asked to respond to three questions.
1. What are the top issues you will address in your campaign and what are your plans for moving those issues forward?
Currently, as your Kent County Sheriff, I believe one of the top issues is the outdated laws and policies plaguing the duties of the office. I am committed to making sure I am bringing the best service to the citizens of Kent County. I have been and will continue working with attorneys and legislators with changing laws that directly and indirectly affect not only the Sheriff’s Office, but our citizens in our County and State. Since I have been in office, I have also worked hard to ensure my staff and I give quality service without adding any additional costs to the taxpayers.
I continue to work on the technology that will assist in keeping the public informed. I have updated the Sheriff’s Office website to be more user friendly and to the give the public information regarding upcoming sales, excess proceeds-Project Rightful Owner, and the Foreclosure Mediation Program offered by the State of Delaware. I will be soon be releasing a new mapping system that allows people to have an aerial view of the properties coming up for auction. This system will also allow the user to obtain pertinent information regarding the property. This system is the first of its kind for Sheriff’s Offices of Delaware and I am proud that I was able to bring this to people of Kent County.
2. What makes you uniquely qualified for the political office you seek?
I have been serving as the Kent County Sheriff for the last four years. During that time, I have worked hard to understand how the office operates and made it my mission to take an active role in the daily operations. I continue to work closely with attorneys, legislators, courts, and most importantly the citizens to make sure they are receiving the best service. I have always had an open door policy and made sure I am accessible to everyone. I will always do my best to make sure the office and my staff provide each person we come in contact with quality assistance and outstanding service.
3. What community groups are you involved with and in what capacity?
While I am not an official member of any particular community organization, I do enjoy spending my free time serving many great causes. I am active in the community by volunteering and donating to numerous organizations and causes as the need for assistance or support arises.
Profession/employment: Kent County Sheriff’s Office
# of years employed: 4 years
Education: Milford High School Milford DE/ Delaware Technical and Community College Georgetown DE
Political experience: Even though my political experience only started four years ago when I first campaigned for Kent County Sheriff and was elected to serve the people, my experiences from my previous career as a police officer has helped me to better understand and communicate effectively with people dealing with sensitive topics and assisting them with beneficial solutions.
During my career as a New Castle County Police Officer, I received extensive training and became a part of the Crisis Negotiation Unit. That experience was and continues to be instrumental when dealing with some of the unfortunate situations that arise as well as creating a helping, trusting dialog with people by taking the time to talk with them and explain to them the process and procedures we follow. In addition, while being an elected official, I have attended various Levy Court meetings and received Kent County Outstanding Elected Official of the Year 2018.
