Wyoming —
Matthew Campbell of Wyoming was arrested Thursday and charged with sex-related and other charges, according to a press release from the Delaware State Police.
Campbell, who is 27, is accused of having sex twice with a 13-year-old girl in October 2011.
He was arrested after administrators at the Fifer Middle School saw him walking around the school at 3 p.m. on Thursday before students were dismissed. A state police school resource officer found Campbell in the north parking lot of the school.
Campbell initially gave the trooper a false name, but was identified through a computer check that showed the Kent County Court of Common Pleas had issued a warrant against him.
The trooper took Campbell into custody and reportedly found that he possessed drug paraphernalia. The officer also learned about the relationship Campbell was having with the 13-year-old girl.
The sexual assaults allegedly happened on two different occasions when the two met in October 2011 on a playground off South State Street.
Campbell was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal impersonation, possessing drug paraphernalia and third-degree criminal trespass.
He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace No. 2 and jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center under an $8,400.00 secured bail.
Anyone with information about this incident or other incidents Campbell may have been involved in should call the Youth Aid Division at Troop 3 at 302-697-2104 or the Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
