Local teen, family found strength in faith
Melanie Miller would have been 14 today. She was just hitting her stride as a teen, rolling her eyes jokingly at her teacher and teasing doctors about wardrobe choices. Under normal circumstances, dad Martin Miller would be taking out Melanie for a one-on-one birthday dinner, a Miller tradition. This year the family will probably break from tradition and stay together to celebrate their Melanie, who died Feb. 24 at age 13.
