Some of the best stories in our paper come from our readers. And while the greater Dover community isn’t shy about sharing their opinions on the content of our paper, we are looking to obtain similar feedback in a more structured, scheduled forum.
The Dover Post is looking for approximately 12 members of the community to join its Reader Advisory Board and help shape the future content of the Dover Post newspaper and website.
Here’s what we’re looking for in our board members:
- Must be full-time Central Kent County residents and Dover Post readers.
- Able to dedicate one hour per month to the discussions for approximately six months.
- Able to tell us what they’d like to see more of (or less of) in their local newspaper.
- Formulate ideas and suggestions for our newspaper’s content.
- Discuss our content with other members of the community, including family, friends and neighbors, and share that feedback.
Here’s what we are not looking for:
- Political, school or public figures. We want to hear from those who we may not have the opportunity to talk to on a regular basis — the general public.
- Individuals looking to criticize other persons or issues. Topics will be brought up for discussion in a constructive manner and differing opinions will be respected at all times.
So if you think you fit the bill to be a member of the Reader Advisory Board, email the following information to maureen.raitz@doverpost.com:
- Name, address, phone number and email address
- Age, occupation and education
- Family information (married, single, children, etc.)
- Why you would like to serve on the Reader Advisory Board
Members will be selected to accurately reflect the diversity of our readership.
As journalists, we see what we do as much more than just a job. It is a community service, and board members will become an integral part of their community by sculpting how news is delivered to readers in the future.
