    Friends of the late Doris G. Zimmerman, 86, of Leipsic, may call on the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, and again from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, also at the funeral home. Remembrance services will take place at 11 a.m.

    Mrs. Zimmerman died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover.

    Born May 1, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Johnson and Florence Harmon Johnson.

    Mrs. Zimmerman worked for Chemical National Bank of New York City. In 1947 she moved with her husband and daughter to Dover to work on the family farm.

    She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Dover, and a former member of the Kent General Hospital Junior Board. She was a troop leader for the Girl Scouts Troop 99, a longtime member of the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and was its secretary for many years.

    Mrs. Zimmerman fully enjoyed spending time at family get-togethers and being with her great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian E. Zimmerman; and a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia R. and Thomas Dandrade.

    Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Flo and Russ Burrows of Leipsic; a grandson and his wife, Bobby and Julie Brooks of Frederica, her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, and Wade Christian Brooks, all of Frederica; Bobby Burrows of Leipsic, who was like a son to her; her lifelong friends, Lou and Warren Diaz of California, and Margie Ridgway of Long Island, N.Y.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Smyrna.

    Funeral arrangements are by the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.

    Memorial contributions in Mrs. Zimmerman’s name may be made to the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary or the Christ Episcopal Church, Dover.
