Friends of the late Wallace Lee McKnitt Jr., 67, of New Castle, may call on the family at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.
Mr. McKnitt died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Christiana Hospital.
Born April 15, 1942, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Wallace Lee McKnitt Sr. and Mildred Green McKnitt.
A graduate of William Penn High School, Mr. McKnitt was a professional brakeman with the Pennsylvania Railroad, which later became Amtrak, from which he retired. He proudly served his country as member of the Delaware National Guard and was a longtime member of American Legion Joseph B. Stahl Post No. 30, New Castle.
In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed fishing.
Mr. McKnitt is survived by his daughters, Karen, Deborah and Becky; a brother, Edward McKnitt; a sister, Carol Heinold; and his good friends, Edward and Paula Karschner, and Paul and Jackie Riccio and their children, Ethan and Gracie.
Interment will be in the Gracelawn Memorial Park.
