A visitation with the family of Rayborn Lee "Ray" Heape, 65, of Hartly, will be held starting at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where memorial services will begin at 7 p.m.
Mr. Heape died following a short battle with cancer Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at home.
Born Oct. 6, 1942, in Vinita, Okla., Mr. Heape was the son of the late Earnie Lee Heape and Ruby Dixon Heape.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and later worked as a correctional officer at the Delaware Department of Correction for 10 years. He was a very talented carpenter and enjoyed fishing, doing crossword puzzles and riding his Harley-Davidson.
Mr. Heape is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Georgia A. Carter-Heape; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Wayne Miller of Dover; two grandchildren, Dylan and Brooke Miller of Dover; two sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Gary Seller of Elk City, Kans., and Jerry Anne and Lloyd Lay of Bartlesville, Okla.; a nephew, Thomas Seller of Independence, Kans.; two caring stepsons and their wives, Travis and Jamie Carter of Clayton and Colt and Leighann Carter of Harrington; and a stepgrandson, Kasey Carter of Harrington.
Interment is in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
