Friends of the late Mary Alice Bailey, 78, of Dover, may call on the family at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at the People’s United Church of Christ, 47 N. Bradford St., Dover, where services will be held at 11 a.m.

    Mrs. Bailey died following a long battle with cancer Monday, June 22, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

    Born April 3, 1931, in Powell, Wyo., she was the daughter of the late Carlton L. and Margaret Blendt of Stanton.

    Mrs. Bailey was retired from the state of Delaware pension office. After retirement, she and her husband spent many winters at their home in Bradenton, Fla.

    She was a member of Peoples Church in Dover. She enjoyed working on both print and online crossword puzzles. She was a serious baseball fan, an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carlton Blendt, who died in January 2005.

    Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Edward D. Bailey; three sons, Donald Bailey of Erial,N.J.; Robert Bailey of Forest Hill, Md., and Brian Bailey of Dover; and five grandchildren.

    Interment will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.

    Arrangements were by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Smyrna.
