Friends of the late Estella S. Isaacs, 94, of Milton, may call on the family at noon Friday, Jan. 29, at the Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where services will be held at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Isaacs died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at home, surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 26, 1915, in Oakmont, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sterling Russell and Estella McCurdy Shannon.
Mrs. Isaacs graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned additional credits at the University of Pittsburgh.
She was a retired schoolteacher who had taught in Springdale, Pa., Oakmont and Milton.
Mrs. Isaacs had many hobbies including sewing and knitting, but her favorite pastime was China painting.
She was a member and past president of the Milton Century Club and a member and past vice president of the Sussex County chapter of the Delaware Federation of Women’s Clubs.
Mrs. Isaacs was an active member of Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Almeda Pepper.
Mrs. Isaacs is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Michael Kimbro of Wyoming, and Hilda and William Lankford of Milton; a stepson, John Isaacs of Rocklin, Calif.; five grandchildren, John “Sean” Stevens, Craig Wells, Shannon Stevens, Mark Wells and Stacey Haas; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan Wells, Hunter Whitney, Garrett Whitney, Lily Stevens, Carter Stevens and Samuel Wells.
Interment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery, North Walnut St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Isaacs’ name may be made to the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford DE 19963.
