Friends of the late Kathryn Marie Voshell Bickling, 80, of Smyrna, may call on the family beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 107 Broad St., Wyoming, where a celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Bickling died following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
Born Jan. 29, 1929, in Chapeltown Corner, she was the daughter of the late Luther Arthur Voshell and Sadie Reed Voshell.
Mrs. Bickling was a 1947 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, and had worked as a bookkeeper. She retired from Delaware Auto Sales of Dover in 2000, following more than 30 years of service.
She had attended the Wyoming UMC until her illness in 2001. She was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted sister and aunt and true friend to many.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bickling was preceded in death by a son, Dr. J. Allan Bickling in 2005; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Grover C. Voshell in 2005 and his wife Grace in 1991, and Kline C. Voshell in 1976; a sister, Elizabeth A. Seaman in 1990; her husband, Willis Sr. in 1992; and her former husband, James Abey Bickling in 1995.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy L. and Dee Bickling of Elkton, Md.; a daughter in law, Carolyn S. Bickling of Lewes; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy J. and Evelyn Voshell, of Dover; four grandchildren, Enid Bickling-Kelley and her husband Joshua of Delmar, Md., and Matthew C. Bickling, James L. Bickling and Keith Lockard, all of Elkton; a great-nephew, to whom she was especially close, Willis J. Seaman III and his family of Dover; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Arrangements are by the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
