Friends of the late Lois H. Hurst, 86, of Wilmington, formerly of Dover, may call on the family beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State St., Dover, where a memorial service will take place at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Hurst died suddenly Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Wilmington Hospital.
Born in Hunter’s Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lester Hebel and Martha Brown Hebel, as well as her stepmother, Kathryn Hebel.
A graduate of the Liverpool High School, Mrs. Hurst held a variety of jobs, including that of teller at Delaware Trust Company and as a local antiques dealer.
An active member of the Presbyterian Church of Dover, she served as elder, deacon, and choir member. She was also a member of Dover Century Club.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hurst, who died in 1996; and a sister, Marjorie Rhoades.
Mrs. Hurst is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Paul Shunta and Jessica and David Rollins, all of Newark; her grandchildren, Matthew Jones and his wife, Michele, Laura Shunta, and Ben and Caroline Rollins; and two great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Hebel and the Rev. H. Lee and Edith Hebel; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Flanders and Jeanne and Bob Freed; a sister-in-law and her husband, Marion and Bob Wagner of Dover; and many devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Hurst’s name may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Dover.
