Carl Arthur Gaertner, 80, of Felton, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at home.

    Born in Troy, Ill., Mr. Gaertner was the son of the late Julius and Katie Gaertner.

    He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Gaertner was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Gaertner; and his sister, Doris Schmidt.

    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma “Lee” Gaertner of Felton; four sons and their wives, Dennis and Sandy Gaertner of Ormans Beach, Fla., Don and Cindy Gaertner and Ron and Cheryl Gaertner, all of Greensboro, Md., and Barry and Pam Gaertner of Trappe, Md.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Interment was in the Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro, Md.

    Arrangements were by Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro.
