Friends of the late David Duane Diehl, 76, of Dover, may call on the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13.
Mr. Diehl died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Born March 8, 1933, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Clair Diehl and Nellie Evelyn George Diehl.
Mr. Diehl was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He had worked at Dover Volkswagen as a mechanic before starting his own business, Diehl Brothers Construction Company, doing home improvements.
He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and stream and bay fishing. He also enjoyed camping and photography.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Diehl in 1994; and by two brothers, Robert Diehl and Gerald Diehl.
Mr. Diehl is survived by three sons, Daniel Diehl of Fyffe, Ala., Richard Diehl of Dover, and U.S. Marine Cpl. David Diehl of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and four daughters, Brenda Wagner of Clayton, Donna Kramer of Dover, Darlene Parker of Orwell, Ohio and Nicole Britt of Dover.
He also is survived by a brother, Terry Diehl of Dover; five sisters, Betty Gravely of Jefferson, Md., Linda Rash of Willow Grove, Karen Gary of Hartly, Sherry Gary of Willow Grove, and Barbara Cullum of Hagerstown, Md.; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two friends, Juliet Lamontagne of Maryland and Rena Proulx of Dover.
Interment will be in the Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.
