Friends of the late Ronald Lee Rider, 69, of Dover, may call on the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Oct. 30.
Mr. Rider died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, in his home.
Born May 28, 1940, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Milton B. and Doris Reedy Rider.
Mr. Rider served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring at the rank of master sergeant. He joined the civil service in 1982 at Dover Air Force Base, and continued in government service until his death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Rider, who died in May 2009.
Mr. Rider is survived by three sons and their wives, Jim “Moochie” and Cheryl Rider of Dayton, Ohio, Milton “Mickey” and Karen Rider of Dover, and Ronald W. and Ann Rider of Dover; a daughter, Tena R. Rider of Las Vegas, Nev.
He also is survived by four grandchildren, James R., Jessica M., Ronnie and Natalie A. Rider; two sisters, Joan Buchanan and Judy Johnson; and a brother, Milton Rider, all of Hagerstown, Md.
Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
