Friends of the late Joseph Martin Allaband Jr., 74, of Dover, may call on the family at noon Friday, Nov. 20, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where services will be held at 1 p.m.
Mr. Allaband died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.
Born May 20, 1935, in Kennett Square, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph M. Allaband Sr. and Julie Oakes Allaband.
Mr. Allaband was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and then worked for the state of Delaware Highway Department as a welder for 25 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a member of American Legion Walter L. Fox Post No. 2.
Mr. Allaband is survived by his wife of 52 years Lorraine Vanderhoof Allaband; three sons and their wives, Joseph M. and Teresa Allaband of Dover, Kris S. and Christine Allaband of Magnolia, Travis C. and Melissa Allaband of Camden; and three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah and Bruce Neidig of Hartly, Donna Allaband of Marydel, Robyn and Mike Moore of Dover.
He also is survived by three brothers, Lester, Brian and Kenny Allaband; six sisters, Janice Bradley, Elaine Bradley, Sylvia LaRochelle, Judy Lane, and Cynthia and Linda Allaband; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.
