John W. Meagher, 59, of Dover, died Thursday Aug. 14, 2008, at his home.
Born March 30, 1949, in Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Meagher was the son of Ann Fehr, now of Toms River, N.J., and the late U.S. Army Technical Sgt. John Meagher, a recipient of the Medal of Honor.
Mr. Meagher was a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran, having served from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1973. He then worked as a computer project manager for Munich American Reinsurance in New York for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Saltwater Fly Anglers of Delaware.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Meagher is survived by his wife of 17 years, Teryl Ann Meagher of Dover; a daughter, Jennifer Ann Meagher of New York; two sisters and their husbands, Lois and Gary Hiraiwa of California and Ellen and Joseph Teresi of Florida; a special niece, Beverly Barragan and her husband Steve of California; sixteen additional nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Gizmo and Mac.
