OBITUARY: Erwin C. Hirth

Friends of the late Erwin C. Hirth, 70, of Camden, may call on the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Torbert Funeral Home, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Dover Air Force Base chapel, 288 Lebanon Road, Dover.

Mr. Hirth died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.

Born Aug. 11, 1939, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Max Hirth and Charlotte Sarnowski Hirth.

Mr. Hirth was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve.

He graduated from Drexel University in 1968 with a mechanical and electrical engineering degree.

He worked as an engineer for Siemans, formerly Moore Products Company, in Springhouse, Pa., retiring after 39 years in 2002.

Mr. Hirth was a member of the Dover Elks Lodge No. 1903 and the Peoples United Church of Christ, Dover. He volunteered for the USO and was selected as volunteer of the year in 2007.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Milda.

Mr. Hirth is survived by his wife of 42 years, RoseAnn Richter Hirth of Camden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laura Hirth and her long time companion, Todd Trumbore, of Harleysville, Pa., and Barb and Joe Wagenmann of Dublin, Pa.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Shannon Hirth of Whitehall, Pa., and Douglas Hirth of Alexandria, Va.; and two grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Wagenmann.

Interment will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Hirth’s name may be made to the Delaware USO, 500 Purple Heart Way, Dover AFB, DE 19902.
