A funeral service will be held for Pauline Patricia Parker, 83, of Magnolia, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Dover First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 647 Wyoming Ave., Dover, where a viewing will be held one hour earlier. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Parker died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, after a battle with cancer at her daughter’s home with her family by her side.

She was born in 1926 in Lowestoft, England and moved to the United States in 1991 to make her home with her daughter, Catherine Palmer.

Mrs. Parker’s greatest joy was to live with and watch her three grandchildren, Whitney, Sarah and Daniel, grow up. She poured her love into many children as she helped with her daughter’s daycare. Truly a devoted nanny to many, she was loved by all and will be sorely missed.

She loved welcoming new babies into the church with handmade crocheted and knitted sweaters. Some of her favorite hobbies were reading, gardening and listening to hymns. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and loved a good game of Bingo.

Mrs. Parker always through of others and had a sacrificial, giving spirit. Her laughter and smile, and strong zest for lifer were contagious. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends from the church, especially special friends Velda, Pete and Grace Wieczorek, who were like another family to her.

She raised five children on her own, and was an amazing mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John, who died 44 years ago.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her five children, Paul and his wife Tracy, Michael and his wife Carola, Julie and her husband Jeffery, Jayne and her husband Robert, and Catherine and her husband Daniel; 10 grandchildren, Cherie and Nicholas Nelson, Jason and Marie Parker, Andrew and Karina Parker, Jonathan Ellis, Whitney Palmer and her fiancé Andrew, and Daniel and Sarah Palmer; her twin sister, Mary Crawley and her husband Collin; and her sisters, Lillian and Monica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dover First Seventh-Day Adventist Church Summer Day Camp Program, 647 Wyoming Ave., Dover, DE 19904.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
