Friends of the late Helen Maxine Jones, 77, of Dover, may call on the family beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where services will begin at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Jones died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by her loving family..
Born Sept. 17, 1932, in Roaring Springs, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Collins P. Kennedy and Ethel Brown Kennedy.
Mrs. Jones grew up in Holidaysburg, Pa., and enlisted as a member of the Women in the Air Force during the Korean War. She met her husband during this time while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
She later was a food service worker for the Capital School District.
Mrs. Jones was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by Robert F. Jones, her husband of 57 years; two sons, Robert A. Jones of Dover and Patrick F. Jones of Felton; two daughters, Cathy G. Jones and Barbara F. Smith, both of Dover; and three sisters, Patti Kennedy of Holidaysburg, and Gladys Worley and Winnie McLaughlin, both of Altoona, Pa.
Mrs. Jones also is survived by eight grandchildren, Kathy Jo Weaver, Melanie Easterling, Darrell Louder III, Michael Louder, Daniel Louder, Shelby Smith, Nolan Jones and Kealey Jones; and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9 in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Funeral arrangements were by the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Jones’ name may be made to the Delaware Hospice or the American Lung Association.
