Graveside services for Helen Sarah Simpson, 89, of Dover, formerly of Wilmington, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville.
Mrs. Simpson died Monday, Aug. 18, 2008, at the Silverlake Care Center, Dover.
Born Aug. 5, 1919, in Wilmington, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late John J. Hogan and Helen O’Neil Hogan.
Married at the early age of 16, she spent her life as wife, mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles Edward Simpson; a brother, Edward Slavin; and a sister, Rita Rybicki.
She is survived by three sons, Charles J. Simpson of Lewes, Raymond F. Simpson of Bennington, Vt., and Daniel L. Simpson of Dover; a daughter, Joyce Held of Pownal, Vt.; a brother, John Hogan of Wilmington; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
