Friends of the late Richard H. Shockly, 66, of Clayton, may call on the family beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where a remembrance service will be held beginning at noon.
Mr. Shockley died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born Oct. 9, 1941, in Dover, Mr. Shockley was the son of the late Chipman Shockley and Marie Maloney Shockley.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked as a maintenance engineer at the base exchange at Dover Air Force Base. He enjoyed fishing, working on boats, flying airplanes, hunting, trains, fixing everything, and entertaining friends and family with his jokes and stories.
Mr. Shockley is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Shockley; two sons, Richard Loren Shockley of Florida and David Wayne Putnam of Maryland; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Ridgeway of Hartly and Karen Lynn Putnam of Maryland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Osterhout of Chestertown, Md., and Rella and Ralph Goodson of Kenton; a niece; two nephews; and three great-neices.
Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
