Friends of the late Jeanne Wilson Edminster, 88, of Dover, are invited to join the family for a memorial gathering at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, on the second floor, assisted living, Westminster Village, 1175 McKee Road, Dover.
Mrs. Edminster died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Westminster Village.
Born May 18, 1921, in Beaver Falls, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Karl Dean Wilson and Vera Flowers Wilson.
Mrs. Edminster lived most of her life in College Park, Md., before moving to Dover in 2002.
She successfully raised four children and maintained the home for her husband and family. When time permitted she enjoyed gardening, tending to various cats, dogs, birds and fish. One of her greatest enjoyments came from horseback riding; it was a pastime she developed in college, passed on to her daughters, and continued to enjoy well into her 60s.
At Westminster, Mrs. Edminster was known for her two large goldfish. When her children were grown, she traveled worldwide with her husband and after his death she continued her international trips solo until her early 80s. When not circling the globe, Mrs. Edminster cherished her time on Wilson’s Windswept, Island 67, Lake Temagami, Ontario, Canada. She first vacationed there with her family as a teenager and made her last visit in 2007.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Talcott W. Edminster, who died in November 1980; and a daughter, Linda E. Gregory, who died in 1999.
Mrs. Edminster is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Gail Vucci and Frank Boyse of Delaware and Vicki and John Mellon of Tennessee; a son and daughter-in-law, T. Ross and Martha Ann Edminster of Massachusetts; six grand children, Daniel Vucci, Cara Vucci, Travis Edminster, Karl Edminster, Todd Gregory, and Corinne Goyette; five great-grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Edminster, Henry and Gregory Potter, and Colin and Gregory Goyette.
Interment will be in the White Cemetery, East Freetown, Mass., at a future date.
Arrangements are by the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CASA Program/Family Court of Delaware, Kent County Remote, 400 Court St., Dover, DE 19901; or the Delaware SPCA, Staunton Christina Road, Newark, DE 19713.
