A funeral service for Albert Dennis Jones, 84, of Dover, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Mr. Jones died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at State Street Assisted Living, Dover, just 18 days short of his 85th birthday.

He was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Black Ridge, Va.

Mr. Jones was a decorated veteran of both the U.S Army Air Forces and the U.S. Air Force, having served a 28-year career. He was active in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and also was involved in the Berlin Airlift. He Jones served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and participated in the Philippine liberation.

After his military service, he worked 20 years at Dover Air Force Base running the temporary flight crew quarters.

In the later part of his life, Mr. Jones lived to watch his grandsons play baseball.

Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Keith; two sons, Alan and his wife Cindy, and Richard and his wife Debbie; four grandchildren, Chris, Mike, Alex, and Dustin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Jones’ name may be made to State Street Assisted Living, 21 N. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
