The University of Delaware has canceled all public events on Saturday, Feb. 6, has rescheduled final exams for Winter Session and has delayed the start of the spring semester by one day because of the coming snow storm.

The university based its moves on the latest information from the National Weather Service, which is predicting that a major snowstorm will begin Friday, Feb. 5.

The university will remain open Feb. 6, and essential personnel are
expected to report.

Public events that are canceled Feb. 6 include:

  • Men's basketball game, originally scheduled at noon, Feb. 6
  • Chinese New Year celebration, originally scheduled at 7 p.m., Feb.
    6, in Mitchell Hall
  • Public skating at the UD Ice Arenas and the exhibition at the Mineralogical Museum Feb. 6

Final examinations for Winter Session that were scheduled on Feb. 6 will now be held on Monday, Feb. 8, at the same times and in the same locations. Final exams administered through the UD Online Resource Center will follow the same Monday schedule.

If special events are scheduled in these locations on Monday, the final exams will take priority, and the Registrar's Office will contact those event coordinators individually.

Kent and Rodney dining halls will be open Feb. 6. There will be no UD shuttle bus service that day, except for the dining express bus.

Residence hall check-in for the spring semester, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 7, will continue to be held from 2-9 p.m. Early check-in for room changes will be held from 9 a.m.-noon. For students not wanting to travel on Sunday, residence hall check-in is available on Monday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

At this time, Sunday events are expected to be held, including the women's basketball game at 2 p.m., Sunday. For updates, check www.udel.edu or bluehens.com.

Spring semester classes will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, instead of Feb. 8.

The Morris Library will close at 5 p.m., Friday. Feb. 5 (and not be
open until 10 p.m. as originally scheduled).

Any additional announcements will be highlighted www.udel.edu.
