Catholic Charities, Inc. of the Diocese of Wilmington has received the 2009 Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Award in the nonprofit category from the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber of Commerce honors its member businesses and organizations for extraordinary accomplishments and model approaches to business, management and quality in products and service. In this tradition, the chamber recognizes small business members through the Small Business Alliance Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business Awards program.

Named for one of Delaware's leading small business entrepreneurs, the awards are presented to companies that have been in business for at least three years, have no more than 150 employees and are members of the State Chamber of Commerce.

Catholic Charities directs and coordinates the charitable and social service programs of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, offering a wide range of services to strengthen families, care for children, assist the disadvantaged, and build human relationships throughout Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

"We accept this honor on behalf of not only our clients and our employees, but also on behalf of our supporters, without whom none of our work would be possible," Catholic Charities Executive Director Richelle A. Vible said. "This award recognizes the efficient, effective manner in which Catholic Charities works to achieve our mission 'to promote and restore the well-being of our most vulnerable neighbors."
