Dover Police arrested a Clayton man following a domestic incident with his estranged wife.

The altercation took place at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in the unit block of Forest Creek Drive, said police spokesman Lt. Steve Getek.

The victim and the suspect, identified as Jeremy S. Stanislow, 32, were arguing when Stanislow demanded he take their youngest child for the evening. Stanislow allegedly pushed the woman off the steps and started to assault her; an older son tried to intervene and Stanislow allegedly began assaulting him, Getek said. Another older son then fired a single shot from a shotgun into the air in an attempt to stop the assault.

Stanislow then fled, Getek said, but turned himself in to police at 8:20 p.m.

Stanislow was charged with three counts of assault, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and disorderly conduct.

He was later released after posting a $3,000 secured bond.
