Division of Revenue Director Patrick T. Carter reminds residents that Delaware’s 2009 Voluntary Tax Compliance Initiative (VCTI) will come to a close at midnight Oct. 30. With only one day left to take advantage of this one-time tax amnesty offer, Carter encourages all remaining eligible individuals and businesses to register for the program as quickly as possible.
“After tonight, all tax liabilities not already registered with VTCI will include penalty and interest fees,” says Carter. “If you’re a business or individual with an outstanding tax balance, you really should take advantage of this program. By registering, you could save yourself a great deal of money.”
VCTI is a one-time tax amnesty program designed for individuals and businesses to pay their outstanding State of Delaware tax liabilities, free of penalty and interest. Through Oct. 30, any individual or business taxpayer who registers to pay their current outstanding State of Delaware tax liability administered by the Division of Revenue will have their penalty and interest fees waived. All balances must then be paid in full by June 30, 2010.
To take advantage of VTCI, taxpayers must call 1-877-551-5233 before midnight on Friday, Oct. 30. The hotline will then close until Nov. 2, at which point those already registered with VTCI can call regarding their payment plans.
Registration and payments can also be completed conveniently online at www.generalrevenue.com or by visiting www.delaware.gov.
