Police in Milford are investigating a knife assault they say was committed by a Harrington resident.
The stabbing took place at 12:30 a.m. March 7 in the 100 block of North Washington Street, said police spokesman Lt. Edward A. Huey.
Huey said that after police confronted the man, identified as Tommy Joe Henderson, outside a local bar, a female companion agreed to escort him out of the area to avoid an arrest. Shortly thereafter, Huey said, Henderson and the woman were walking along North Washington Street when a confrontation took place between him and a group of people in a yard.
Witnesses said Henderson pulled a knife and went after the group. In the melee, Henderson caught up to one man, a 26-year-old Lincoln resident, and stabbed him numerous times in the arm, ear, shoulder and buttocks. The Lincoln man’s friends jumped Henderson and hit him with a beer bottle, Huey said.
Henderson’s companion and her 15-year-old daughter, as well as another Milford man, received minor injuries.
Police are working to find out the woman’s daughter became involved, Huey said.
Henderson, 38, of Deer Valley Road, was admitted to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital with numerous cuts and bruises and possible internal injuries, Huey said.
The injured Lincoln man was admitted to Milford Memorial with numerous stab wounds.
Criminal charges are pending, Huey said.
