Weekend expo offers chance to learn to save energy & money

Home and business owners can learn how to conserve energy, implement innovative energy systems and save money on their energy costs at The Desk Energy Expo to be held this weekend.

The expo, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Sheraton Dover Hotel, is an opportunity to learn more about energy alternatives and renewable energy systems, as well as how to significantly save energy costs.

In addition to the informative seminars held throughout the day, dozens of exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions and show the latest in energy-saving and energy-efficient products, as well as the newest solar, wind and environmental control systems.

Events:

  • 11 a.m. Representatives from BrightField’s Inc. and Mike Smith of County Insulation will present “Save Your Energy,” a look at how to most effectively reduce energy loss
  • Noon, world-renowned economic development expert Marc Weiss, of Global Urban Development, will discuss “The New Green Economy”
  • 1 p.m. Charles Driggs, manager of Demand Side Management for Delmarva Power’s parent company Pepco Holdings, Inc., will present “The Future of Energy,” Delmarva Power’s Blueprint for the Future
  • 2 p.m. Charley Roberson of the Delaware Energy Office and Michael Chambers of groSolar will present “Show Me the Money,” outlining the federal and state incentives, rebates and tax credits offered in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey to help fund renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
  • 3 p.m. Fiona Fry of Eclipse Solar will present “Is Solar Right For You?,” helping you determine if your property is suitable for solar cell systems
  • 3:45 Flexera, Incorporated’s Finn McCabe will navigate “The Real Costs/Savings of Solar & Wind,” and WSFS Bank’s Nathan Edmunds will discuss financing options available for residential and commercial green projects

Tickets are $5, which includes admission to all seminars throughout the day. More than a third of the proceeds will benefit green energy education program and systems development at Sussex Technical School.
