OBITUARY: Donald J. Lawrence

Friends of the late Donald J. Lawrence, 68, of Dover, may call on the family at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where services will be held at noon.

Mr. Lawrence died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, with his loving daughters and wife at his side.

He was retired from Kraft Foods, having 36 years of service. He worked in the chocolate department and his daughters loved him coming home with the smell of chocolate on him. At the time of his retirement, he worked in the Kool-Aid department.

Mr. Lawrence enjoyed time with his family and friends, his church, dining at the Smyrna Diner, and eating breakfast at Boscov’s. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his friend Billy Smith, and his sons-in-law, Bill Stanley and John Smith.

He was loved dearly by many, especially by his aunt Helen Cahall, and her late husband, Ralf Cahall.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by a son, Donald J. Lawrence Jr.; two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Wilson and Leena; and a son-in-law, William Stanley Jr.

Mr. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Emma M. Lawrence; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Annette Stanley of Magnolia, Deborah and Phil Bowers of Seaford, Lisa Lawrence of Smyrna, and Laura and John Smith of Felton.

He also is survived by his grandchildren, Michael, Brandi, Justus and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Alanna, Logan, Angela, Dillon, Nathan, Justus Jr., Jeremy, Jonathan, Nela, Zalaysia, Zachary, Kianna, Bianca, Glory and Anastasia; two brothers, Ernest Webbert and William Morris; and a sister, Barbara Burris.

Interment will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, west of Dover.
