Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware marks its 75th anniversary this year with a $75,000 donation to 10 food kitchens and pantries located throughout the state. Each kitchen or pantry will receive $7,500.
“BCBSD has been actively involved in the Delaware community for 75 years,” said Timothy J. Constantine, president and CEO of BCBSD. “While we are proud of this important milestone, we also recognize that this time of year marks a very different situation for many Delawareans who need warm shelter, clothing and meals.”
Many food banks and other social service agencies will face a greater demand as they work to help Delawareans this season. In response to this added need, the company has made a BCBSD anniversary gift, in the form of a $7,500 contribution, to each of 10 food kitchens and pantries throughout the state.
The 10 organizations receiving donations are as follows:
- New Castle County: the Food Bank of Delaware, Greater Wilmington Adventist Community Services, UAW Local 1183 Emergency Food Closet, Union United Methodist Church, and Life-Lutheran Community Service;
- Kent County: Calvary Assembly of God, Milford Community Pantry, and Dover First Moose Lodge
- Sussex County: God’s House of Deliverance and Cape Henlopen Food Basket.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware, headquartered in Wilmington, offers a comprehensive portfolio of health benefits products to nearly 396,000 customers.
