Four teenagers were arrested over the weekend after the shooting of a Harrington storeowner.

The incident took place June 27, at the LP Sports store on East Street in Harrington, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Cpl. Earl K. Brode. Officers from Harrington, Felton and the Delaware State Police responded to the store after a report of an activated burglar alarm and that shots had been fired. The arrived to find the storeowner had been shot twice in the left arm.

The man, whose name was not released, said one of the boys came into the shop through a back door, brandishing a gun and demanding merchandise. He then fired at the storeowner and fled, Brode said.

Armed with a description of the boy, officers spotted him near the scene and caught him after a brief chase. Police quickly identified three additional suspects and arrested them.

The .22-caliber pistol allegedly used in the attack was recovered, along with four masks also allegedly used, Brode said.

All four teens were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court No. 7 in Dover, he added.

The suspects were identified as Jermere L. Reid, 13, Antonio Bynum, 13, both of Harrington, and Jeremiah B. Townsend, 14, and Josiah A. Townsend, 13, both of Seaford.

All were charged with robbery, assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise, conspiracy, and theft. All were committed to the William M. Stevenson Detention Center, Milford, in default of a $79,500 secured bond.

Bynum also had an active warrant out of the Harrington Police Department, Brode said, and was given an additional $700 secured bond on charges of noncompliance with conditions of release and disorderly conduct.
