Hartly, Del. -

Troopers with the Delaware State Police on March 26 arrested two men on suspicion of having committed numerous daytime burglaries in central Kent County.

The suspects, Dustin R. Skinner, 22, of Camden, and Eric Szulborski, 29, of Hartly, were taken into custody at a home on Loxley Lane, Hartly, said police spokeswoman Cpl. Angela J. Garnsey.
Police had been investigating the burglaries throughout the month of March, Garnsey said.

The ongoing investigation took a turn when two men tried to pawn property from a reported burglary. This attempt allowed police to identify Skinner and, with the assistance of Probation and Parole and the Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police detectives were able to identify Szulborski. This information, in conjunction with previous witness information collected throughout the investigations, led troopers to the Hartly address.

Troopers tried to contact both individuals at the Loxley Lane residence, but they refused to cooperate, Garnsey said. After approximately two-and-a-half hours, officers went into the home using a state police K-9. The two suspects were apprehended following a brief struggle.

Skinner sustained non-life threatening injuries from the K-9 apprehension and was taken to Bayhealt-Kent General Hospital, where he was treated and turned over to detectives. Szulborski was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 3 without further incident.

Both were charged with numerous felonies and misdemeanors, including burglary, theft of a firearm, theft, criminal mischief, conspiracy, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Skinner was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in default of a $26,000 secured bond. Szulborski was jailed at the same facility in lieu of a $24,500 secured bond.

The investigation into the burglaries is ongoing and additional arrests are expected, Garnsey said.

Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to contact Troop 3 at 697-4454 or CrimeStoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
