Harrington, Del. -

Harrington Police have charged a local woman with numerous drug-related and other charges following her arrest Oct. 30.

The incident began when officers received a call about a disorderly woman in a residence in the 300 block of Dorman Street, said police spokesman Cpl. Earl Brode. Police took the woman, later identified as Jami L. Ellerbusch, 28, into custody after a short struggle and placed her in a patrol car, Brode said. While in the car, Ellerbusch got out of her handcuffs and tried to take some pills out of her purse and dispose of them, he added.

Officers got Ellerbusch back into the cuffs, then located two Xanax pills in her purse. During the altercation, she also threatened harm to someone in the residence, Brode said.

Ellerbusch was charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, menacing and disorderly conduct.

She was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of a $5,000 secured bond.
