Rehoboth Beach, Del. -

Four Dover teenagers and a 20-year-old were arrested in Rehoboth Beach over the weekend in connection with a robbery and home invasion.

The five left Dover late Oct. 10 and headed to Rehoboth with the intention of robbing someone, said Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Andrea Boone.

The first incident happened around 3 a.m. in the parking lot of the Wilmington Trust Bank when the five drove behind the victim’s car.

“Two subjects exited the vehicle and approached the victims with their faces partially covered with bandanas,” Boone said in a prepared statement. “One of the subjects brandished a gun. The victims were ordered to the ground and the bandits demanded the victims turn their property over to them.”

The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and cell phones and drove away in a purple Dodge Stratus, she said.

At approximately 4 a.m. troopers responded to a home invasion robbery in the first block of Elizabeth Avenue in which Boone said two men had entered with a gun and demanded money and cell phones.

Alerted to the robberies and the description of the car, police stopped the Stratus and seized a black semi-automatic BB gun, a purple bandana and several cell phones, Boone said.

Officers arrested Gary Hudson, 18, and Derell Tyson, 19, both of New Jersey Drive; Junia Brooks, 19, and Keondra Brooks, 17, both of Park Lane; and Vernon Cooper Jr., 20, of Peachtree Run Road.

All were charged with four counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, two counts of second-degree conspiracy, and first-degree burglary.

Hudson, Tyson, Cooper and Junia Brooks were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $171,000 cash bond and Keondra Brooks was committed to the Stevenson Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of $171,000 cash bond.
