Man allegedly takes child from Towne Point yard
A Wilmington man who allegedly grabbed a child playing on his swing set and attempted to walk away with the child was arrested Sept. 20.
Neighbors saw the man walking with the boy along Miller Drive in Towne Point and confronted him, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
The intoxicated man continued to walk down Miller Drive and Hosfelt said he was found nearby.
Police arrested Alfonso Rondo, 45, of Wilmington, and charged him with second-degree kidnapping and second-degree trespassing. No bond information was available.
Car crash passenger faces charges for disorderly conduct
Dover police responding to a car crash early morning Sept. 21 in the parking lot of the North DuPont Highway McDonald’s became involved in an altercation with a passenger who faces charges in connection with the incident.
One of the passengers allegedly pushed, kicked and punched officers who then tasered him in order to gain control, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
Police arrested Lloyd Henry, 43, of Dover, and charged him with second-degree assault, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and menacing. He was committed to Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $2,200 secured bond.
Jeep, dealer tags stolen from dealership
Dover police are investigating a burglary that occurred between Sept. 14 and 15 when someone took three dealer tags and a 2005 Jeep Wrangler from Delaware Auto Sales on Division Street.
The jeep is valued at $11,000, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
Rape charges dropped against Dover man
A Dover man charged with 10 counts of first-degree rape in June has been cleared and the charges dropped, according to documents available at Superior Court.
Charges against Daniel Ruiz, 26, were dropped Sept. 8 in Superior Court and the case was closed because of lack of probable cause.
Man charged with burglary, menacing
A 43-year-old Wilmington man was arrested Sept. 18 after allegedly breaking into an East Water Street home and threatening the resident.
The man broke into the back door and pulled out a knife to threaten the resident, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department. He fled and was found near River Road, he said.
Police arrested Kenneth Davis, 43, of Wilmington, and charged him with second-degree burglary, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, possession of cocaine, endangering the welfare, criminal mischief and breach of release. He was committed to Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $15,200.
Alleged cigarette bandit caught
A 44-year-old Dover man has been charged in connection with a series of cigarette burglaries occurring Sept. 4 at several Dover locations.
Witnesses helped police identify the man and police arrested Pierre Addison of New Street on Sept. 16, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department. He was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of theft and three counts of criminal mischief. He was released on $5,250 unsecured bond.
Two charged with unlawful use of credit card
A couple who allegedly racked up $25,000 in credit card charges by using a dead relative’s card were extradited from Nebraska to face charges in Delaware.
An 83-year-old family member died in 2001 and the two allegedly made purchases from 2003 to 2007 on her card, said Cpl. Angela J. Garnsey, spokeswoman for the Delaware State Police.
Police arrested William D. Reader, 41, and Terra Piper, 38, formerly of Lincoln, and charged them with 65 counts of unlawful use of credit card, criminal impersonation, identity theft, second-degree conspiracy and three counts of theft by false pretense.
They were committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $46,000 cash bond.
Two arrested for alleged drug deal in parking lot
Dover police arrested two men Sept. 16 after allegedly watching them conduct a drug transaction in the parking lot behind Red Lobster on Route 13.
Police approached the men and discovered approximately 5 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana, said Lt. James Hosfelt, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.
Police arrested Taion Limehouse, 26, of North New Street, and Johnmika Daniels, 23, of Little Creek Drive, and charged them with delivery of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges. Bond information was unavailable.
