Dover, Del. -

An early morning fight involving more than 100 people March 11 that began outside a Loockerman Street bar resulted in the arrest of four Delaware State University students.

“We got called for a large crowd and then the fight began,” said Lt. Steve Getek, spokesman for the Dover Police Department.

Getek was not sure how many Dover officers initially responded but back-up was called from Camden, Harrington, Cheswold, Delaware State University and Delaware State Police.

Though police said the crowd was part of a private party at Leone’s Loockerman Exchange, located at the corner of Loockerman and State streets, owner John Leone was uncertain about that, though he said he believed the group was college students.

“Everything was fine in here when the group left,” he said. “The fight started outside.”
Getek said there were no weapons involved and he believed it started with some pushing and shoving along Loockerman Street. From there, he said it moved to the alley and out to South Bradford Street.

Police made the arrests after telling the group to disperse and being met with resistance.
