Dover Police have arrested a 14-year-old Dover High School student after a knife was found in his bookbag.
The teen, identified as Nathaniel M. Dudley, of the unit block of South New Street, was arrested Oct. 21, according to the warrant of probable cause released by Justice of the Peace Court No. 7, Dover. The school resource officer reported a student had seen the knife in an open compartment of Dudley’s bookbag, the warrant said.
According to the documentation, Dudley told the SRO he had used the 9 1/2-inch steak knife to cut tags off some new clothes and had forgotten it was in his bag.
Dudley was charged with possession of a deadly weapon in a safe school zone, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Both are felony charges.
