A Felton woman is facing rape, disorderly conduct and other charges following her arrest in Harrington.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., Aug. 12, when Harrington Police were called to a residence on Central Park Drive to investigate a disorderly conduct complaint, said spokesman Cpl. Keith B. Shyers. The Harrington officer found the suspect, identified as Erin R. Boone, 23, banging on a door. Boone refused an order to put her hands behind her and turned toward the officer while brandishing a 4-inch butterfly knife, Shyers said. Following a brief struggle in which the woman said she would not be arrested, the officer took Boone into custody.
A search turned up 18 Xanax pills in her possession, Shyers said.
It was the boy’s mother who called police, said Harrington Chief of Police Norman Barlow.
“[Boone] was a little intoxicated at the time but we believe she was there to see the boy,” he said, adding he was under the impression the woman and the boy’s mother knew each other.
After being placed in the officer’s patrol car, Boone kicked out the rear passenger window and eventually hit the officer, causing a minor injury to his arm and hand. It was later discovered Boone had been caught having sex with a 14-year-old boy during the early part of August.
Barlow said police were unaware of the relationship between Boone and the boy until the Aug. 12 incident.
Boone was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, rape, assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated menacing, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest with force, possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
She was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, in default of a $19,000 secured bond.
The Harrington officer, who reportedly received a cut to his hand, did not require treatment.
Troopers with the Delaware State Police assisted Harrington officers with this case.
