Three arrested after sledgehammer assault

Harrington Police arrested three people after they allegedly assaulted another person with a sledgehammer.

The incident occurred Nov. 17 in the Midway Plaza parking lot, Harrington, said Cpl. Keith B. Shyers of the Harrington Police Department. Two men, later identified as Larry C. Murray, 23, of Harrington and David C. Stevens, 22, of Magnolia, allegedly committed the assault, with assistance from a third person, identified as Michelle L. Rucinski, 38, of Harrington.

The victim whose name and condition was not released, was taken to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital by ambulance, Shyers added.

Stevens was caught during a traffic stop, and Murray and Rucinski were arrested at their home, Shyers said.

All were charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, assault, conspiracy and disorderly conduct.

Murray and Stevens were jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $16,100 secured bond each; Rucinski was released after posting secured bond for the same amount.
