Milford Police have arrested a Dover woman after she allegedly assaulted an officer following a traffic stop.
The incident took place at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 in the 200 block of North Rehoboth Boulevard, said department spokesman Det. Dwight Young.
The woman, identified as Mikahela E. Ray, 23, was pulled over for traffic violations, Young said. At first, she locked herself in her car and refused to come out; after she did exit the vehicle, she began cursing and screaming and grabbed and kicked the officers before being subdued, Young said.
After being handcuffed, Ray attempted to slide her body underneath her vehicle and began to kick the door of the patrol vehicle once she was placed inside, Young said. Ray also tried to spit on one of the officers but was unsuccessful. One officer did receive a minor injury to the hand, but did not require medical treatment, he said.
Ray was charged with assault, intentional injury to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with force or violence, two counts of offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, offensive touching of another with saliva, urine, feces or other bodily fluid, disorderly conduct by fighting or violent tumultuous or threatening behavior, speeding and other traffic charges.
She was committed to the Delores J . Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, New Castle, in default of a $7,500 secured bond.
