Dover, Del. -

A Wilmington woman is under arrest after the victim of a purse snatching was able to identify her shortly after the theft.

The incident occurred at 12:34 p.m. Nov. 1, at the Brunswick Bowling Alley in the Rodney Village Shopping Center, said Delaware State Police spokeswoman Cpl. Angela J. Garnsey.

The incident unfolded when two women reported her purse had been taken while she and another woman were bowling, Garnsey said. One of the women spotted the alleged thief, later identified as Victoria Hollingsworth, 42, as she left the building and gave a description to officers.

Police later picked up Hollingsworth as she was walking on Route 13; she tried to give a false name, but was identified through fingerprints. Computer checks showed Hollingsworth was wanted out of New Castle County and police later linked her to a Sept. 17 purse theft, also at the bowling alley.

As such, she has been charged with a total of five counts of theft, and single counts of disorderly conduct and criminal impersonation.

Hollingsworth was jailed at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, New Castle, in default of a $2,300 secured bond.
