Applications for the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Superstars in Education Awards have been sent to schools across Delaware. Schools that have developed programs that show measurable results and raise student achievement are encouraged to apply.
Funded by the business community, Superstars in Education is a statewide program that awards Delaware educators who have implemented and sustained a creative, innovative program, or a teaching practice that works to increase student achievement and test scores. Since its inception in 1989, more than 230 outstanding programs have been recognized.
The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16. The selection committee, comprised of 35 business and education leaders, will review applications in December and January. Teams will conduct on-site evaluations of the finalists in February 2010. The awards program culminates with a celebration dinner that is scheduled for Monday, May 3, 2010.
