Continuing along its goal of one-stop shopping, the Camden Wal-Mart further branched out along the financial services field with the Aug. 21 grand opening of the MoneyCenter.
Located near the Felton Bank along the front section of the supercenter, the MoneyCenter gives customers the opportunity to pay bills, send money orders, cash checks and even buy postage stamps, said Margeaux Williams, assistant manager of the MoneyCenter.
The center offers bill paying for 2,000 accounts including Verizon, Comcast, all the area electric companies, water companies and other public utilities.
“If we don’t have it, we can add it,” said Vonda Brockenbrough, assistant manager for the Camden Wal-Mart. “There’s nothing we cannot do to accommodate the customer.”
H.K. Chow, manager of the Camden Wal-Mart, said there are many people from Mexico, Turkey and other countries who routinely buy money orders.
“We have a lot of customers from different parts of the world and at the end of the month they send money to their families at home,” he said.
With the high cost of gasoline, Chow added many shoppers will save on the time and expense of making extra stops for financial services now offered at the MoneyCenter.
The costs for financial transactions at the center include: $3 check cashing, 88 cent bill payment, $9.84 for express bill payment, $11.46 for domestic money transfers, $9.46 for international money transfers and money orders are 46 cents.
For check cashing and other services, Williams said a driver’s license or other form of identification is needed.
The hours of operation for the MoneyCenter are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
