Dover, Del. -

With a total of eight plasma TVs and three projector screens — two that are double-sided — football fans have a lot to choose from at the Public House.

The restaurant located in the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino opened with a full dinner menu on Oct. 6.

“We wear a lot of different hats,” said Manager Clayre Brown in describing the business. “It’s a dining destination, bar and night spot.”

She describes the food as contemporary American with Buffalo wings and crowd favorites like filet mignon sliders.

The Dover Public House is the third such restaurant/bar/nightclub that’s opened on the East Coast. The original began in 2005 in Philadelphia where it still operates and Brown said another opened in Manhattan in 2007.

She’s hoping the big-city success will catch on here. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; doors open at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday for college and professional football fans. The NFL ticket is broadcast on the screens for viewers to watch.

The restaurant closes at 1 a.m. on all nights.

Booths, tables and bar seating for 30 is available in the 7,500-square-foot space, as is a private room that can seat approximately 60 for dinner or hold 100 people for cocktails. Brown said catering packages are available for all occasions.

In November, she said they plan to offer live entertainment and special nights throughout the week with Wednesdays hosting acoustic night, Ladies Night on Thursdays, Happy Hour from 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays along with half-priced dinner and appetizers.

“We follow casual cocktails and comfortable food,” Brown said.
