A new clothing store has aimed to bring an urban flair to downtown Dover.
In mid-June, Fly 365 started selling T-shirts, brimmed hats, shoes and jackets at its store at 108 W. Loockerman St., and owner Lee Turner said he has been trying to carry inventory that isn’t available at other Dover shopping centers.
“When you come to Fly 365, you get a feel of walking down South Street in Philadelphia,” Turner said. “A lot of people who like to shop in New York City or Philadelphia have been coming here.”
The store carries brands such as Polo by Ralph Lauren, Akoo by the rapper T.I. and Rocawear by the rapper Jay-Z.
Turner said most of the clothing could be worn as “going out” clothes that are worn in the evenings to parties and bars, but he noted the store also sells nice button-up shirts that could be worn by someone older to work or social functions.
The store’s name represents the idea that people are busy and doing things every day.
“We’re really for people of all ages,” he added. “With our downtown location, people can just stop by if they’re on their way out and need a new shirt before heading out to a club or church.”
Turner, who is a former Wilmington resident, started the store because no similar stores existed in Dover, and he noticed there are a large number of college students he thought would be interested in urban clothing.
Fly 365 offers a 15% discount to college students and members of the military.
The store is located across from Irish Mike’s Old Town Pub and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
