Jeffrey Medgebow knows a little something about the restaurant business. After his days of running a coffee house on Philadelphia’s South Street and operating a sub shop in Florida, he’s brought his latest venture to Dover.
“We chose the area because there’s not many restaurants around,” said Chad Long, co-owner of the business with Medgebow.
“Dover’s really grown over the last 10 years,” Medgebow added.
Crumb’s — a name Medgebow and some family members came up with while watching TV one night — opened for business Oct. 15 at 27 W. Loockerman Street in downtown Dover. Occupying the location formerly held by The Lunch Box, Medgebow and Long are serving up a selection of hoagies, Philly steaks, grinders, wraps, burgers and other specialties.
Hoagies come in half or whole sizes, offering up 20-inches of cold-cut fillings.
“I don’t think one person can eat the whole thing,” Medgebow said.
The Gobbler, with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, and the Ultimate Brown Derby salad are a couple of the specials offered at the restaurant. There is seating for 25, a call-in counter for pick-up and free delivery for those who can’t get out.
And don’t forget dessert.
A refrigerated case displays a variety of homemade desserts from a local Amish baker. Moon pies made with chocolate and even red-velvet cake are joined by Orange Creamsicle cake, Pumpkin cheesecake, apple crisp pie and banana cream pie to name a few.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays. It’s closed on Sundays.
