Alex and Roberta Tueros have brought a slice of Calabria, Italy, to the Rodney Village Shopping Center.

La Dolce Vita Bistro opened Feb. 11 and has enjoyed a steady stream of walk-in customers stopping in to try the homemade Italian dishes and pizza on the menu.

With 10 tables available, the restaurant can seat up to 55 and Roberta said she enjoys chatting with customers who stop in.

“A lot of people say it’s a bad time to open up a business but I try to do things the right way and think everything will be fine,” she said.

Using only the finest ingredients, Roberta said she makes the food fresh, with the help of her sons David and Sergio. Entrees start at $7.25 for spaghetti and run up to $22.95 for seafood-specialty dishes.

Roberta pointed out Penne Alla Vodka made with tomato-infused cream sauce and prosciutto at $10.95 as one of her specialties. Other specialties take on the names of her daughters and mother: the Marcella Special Steak at $6.95 is a sandwich made with bacon and cheddar; Cavatelli All’ Analisa is an $11.95 pasta dish; and Veal Alla Mama Lina with scallops, shrimp and mozzarella is $16.95.

The pizza is a thin-crust type with a host of topping choices that include pepperoni, sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli rabe, eggplant, anchovies and chicken fajita to name a few.

The restaurant is located at 1618 Rodney Village Shopping Center and is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
