When Rori Allen first became involved in the cleaning business, she did so because of the flexible hours and the chance to make some extra money.

    She built up her Long Island company from nothing to 115 accounts, all of which she sold in 2005.

    Now she hopes to do it again with Spruce-Up Cleaning.

    “We have a new baby and I thought it would be a great place to raise a family,” Allen said of her recent move to Dover with husband, Rich.

    The husband and wife team have a small mix of residential and commercial clients right now but Allen hopes to expand.

    She considers herself detail-oriented when she takes on a job.

    “I try to go the distance when I’m working,” she said. “I appreciate the fact that people are paying money for a job. I know when I’m paying for a service I want the best.”

    In keeping with the latest green trend, Allen provides an all-organic cleaning service for customers who request it. She incorporates green products for her general cleaning services and will use products provided by the customer.

    “I consider myself an expert on cleaning products and can advise a customer on what works best,” she said.

    Her rates start at $65 for a three-bedroom, two-bath home and move up with the square footage. An initial visit to the home helps her establish her cleaning estimate.
